The PCB was ordered from PCBWAY. I had never soldered QFN/DFN type packages before, and assumed that I could heat the inner heatsink pad of the package from a pad nearby it - this didn't work at all. The inductor's pads were also unreachable with a soldering iron. I ended up just soldering it using a hot plate style heater.

Apply some paste flux and put your components on the pads pretty closely, the solder sucks them into place when it melts. My plate is an aluminum block, and the heat source is a propane torch from underneath.

Place the thermal pad onto the 410c over the gold rectangle, place the 4 standoffs onto the heatsink over each tapped hole, place the 410c over the standoffs, and install the four screws. Since the standoffs are 4mm tall, and the thermal pad is 5mm tall it will get crushed 1mm and make good thermal contact.
Preheater heats whole board up to about 120 degrees and this makes soldering of any kind much simpler. The amount of heat needed to warm up a joint is much smaller. Soldering big ground pad, massive heatsink tabs and big center pads becomes a piece of cake. So, I wanted a preheater too.
